Now Playing Tracks

I finished an intense elliptical workout over 40 minutes ago yet I’m still dripping in sweat. Kind of amazing if you ask me. Don’t worry, shower about to occur.

The schedule called for rest but the weather is miserable this weekend so I figured even if I don’t get my scheduled miles in I’m still getting in a workout.

Body was sore this morning from yesterday’s workout on the elliptical. Definitely am noticing a difference in my breathing from elliptical to treadmill.

The Next 36 hours….

(Making lists because I have a lot to do)

Today:

- gym

- grocery shopping

- dog’s walk

- out for the evening

Saturday:

- 4 miles with puppy morning long walk, 4 miles at the gym, 1 mile with puppy midday potty break, 2 miles on the streets = 11 mile long run (I got dog duties on Saturday obviously)

- ice bath

- finish chapter of thesis I’ve been stumped on for a few days

- finish baby blanket #2 (post pictures of both blankets)

- start cleaning up room

- pizzzzza for dinner!  Homemade of course. :D

Sunday:

- religious school & Temple meeting (aka, busy from 8-4)

- dog’s walk

- continue cleaning room

- finish job applications from Thursday

- plan next week’s schedule

^~^ That’s just the next 3 days.  Cleaning my room is a massive task as I’ve let it stack to the point that there is a distinctive path from my bed to my door with little room to deter and absolutely no room to do any video workouts or core workout programs that I want to work on this month.  So yeah, it needs to be done.  Plus I can only seem to find my gym bag, running clothes, current knitting project, and thesis papers in this mess.

Indy Mini Marathon Week 6 Day 6 (technically day 5 in the scheme of things…) — Long Run, 9 miles
Tomorrow I won’t be able to crank out 9 miles so I pushed the long run to today.  It worked out about as beautifully as picture number 2, which features my leg with a cold burn on it post 4.7 miles with the puppy outside.  Either way, 9 miles were accomplished and the rest is history. (The temperature was 38 when I got the cold burn…I had on yoga capris, could explain a thing or two — my defense is that I don’t own long running pants because *duh* Florida!)
First picture — obviously showing logging into myfitnesspal like whoa, and how many calories I estimated burning (I did the number before completing the workout at 10 this morning)
Second picture — legs with Vibrams and the shin’s cold burn.  Lotion on it now, it isn’t as puffy.
Missing pictures — 4.7 miles with the puppy, 2.40 miles on the elliptical, 2 miles on the treadmill (I went indoors after the cold burn)
Third picture — the New York style bagel with egg that was consumed post workout
Fourth picture — the current position of my body with compression sleeves on and a dog to snuggle with.  Position will remain this way as long as possible.
Fifth picture — Calories burned from the time I got up until syncing my new BodyMedia Core device (note: 5 A.M. grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and post-workout grocery shopping at Publix included)
Sixth picture — The difference between moderate exercise (brown) and vigorous exercise (yellow).  Dunno how it calculates that but yellow was primarily my time on the elliptical.
Seventh picture — Slightly surprised that I’m at 84% efficiency for sleeping considering I went to bed at 11 and got up at 4:30, had 2 middle of the night interruptions (house alarm and having to go to the bathroom).  I thought my sleeping was much worse than it actually documented.  Could just be an anomaly.

Now excuse me, the dog and I are going to go enjoy some SG-1 and salad for lunch.  He gets the carrots, I get everything else.  Happy Friday all!

Monday tidings

Today in bullets:

  • spent nearly 10 hours looking at job postings from the past week (came up with 20 that I need to apply to within the next week, another 20 within the next 3 weeks, and 4 by next month — which I’m sure will be added to later on in the month)
  • I’m applying to a job that has “lover of cheese” as part of the minimum qualifications.  SERIOUSLY THE JOB LOOKS AWESOME, and not just because of my love of cheese (after digging some into the employees — two are runners and a third knits.  I mean, c’mon, PLUS it’s in my field.  Now to find a witty way to attract their attention to me and shift to the seriousness of how qualified I am for the job)
  • I was on point with everything that I wanted to get done today
  • Gym workout — Elliptical 1.00 miles @ 13 minutes ; Stationary bike — 7.75 miles @ 30 minutes
  • My puppy is super slow with C25K runs, but you know what, it still makes me feel accomplished to be moving a bit more and doing it outside instead of on a treadmill. (2.30 miles in 60 minutes)
  • Dinner was delicious since it was chicken with mixed vegetables and couscous.  I’m slowly integrating in some carbs on high workout days just to get more calories in (and even with this couscous I’m still below my 150 carb grams goal of the day — and am at 150 grams of protein whoo!)
  • The soreness from Saturday’s race is almost completely gone (thanks to two nights of sleeping in compression sleeves!).
  • My knitting projects are starting to run a bit smoother after some dark color yarn struggles (seriously I need to learn not to knit/crotchet in dark colors despite the recipients’ desires).

Now to reward myself with Netflix, some knitting, and munching on cinnamon roasted almonds.  Hope everyone else had a productive Monday!  If not — there are still 4 days left in the work week to get things done before the weekend!

On today’s agenda:

- finish 1 job application

- C25K at the gym

- work on thesis

- catch up on missed tv shows (Flashpoint, Revolution, Deep Impact)

- make foods for the next few days (salad, hard boiled eggs, baked banana oatmeal, cut vegetables)

Not a whole lot going on today, but the things listed above are MUSTS (well, besides tv shows), so I’m keeping it fairly light and simple for my to dos.  If I get more done, I get more done.

Happy Wednesday!  Let’s make the rest of the week count even better than the first part!

My day:

- 6 hours contract work

- 2 job applications

- 1 hour gym (Elliptical — 1.05 miles @ 13 minutes; Bike — 7.60 miles @ 30 minutes; Free weights for 10 minutes)

- 2 hours Netflix

- 4 hours trying to figure out what yarn to buy because Joann’s is having a yarn sale that expires today and I have a LOT of holiday projects I’m doing  (thus far have 2 more people’s colors to figure out….out of about 7 projects.  Yay?)

And yes…the tally says 13 hours.  Been up since 4 this morning after about 2 hours napping.  Tired of being tired, that should be my motto.

Thanks everyone for your positive comments on my last post from a few days ago!  I’ve just been trying to get through this week and see what the doctor has to say tomorrow.  Eating has been spot on, didn’t have time the past 2 days to workout, but got back to the gym today.  Scale still has me at a number that makes no sense to the work and effort I put in.  I’m just hoping I get diagnosed and get help in figuring out how to move forward from this.

Fantabulous Friday Bullets

  • Was blood-sucked dry by vampires
  • Spent a significant part of the morning interneting  thyroid and PCOS symptoms, treatments, and weight loss strategies if diagnosed with one or both (all not fun stuff…THE INTERNET HAS SO MUCH INFORMATION!)
  • Decided to go to the gym and then go buy groceries without showering
  • Ran a 12:30 mile for 1.5 miles before tapering out — 2.30 miles at 30 minutes on the treadmill; biked 7.50 miles in 30 minutes
  • Spent the afternoon cleaning up my room and finally putting away laundry….only to get to do workout laundry tomorrow (no clean workout clothes!)
  • Applied to 3 of those “ASAP” jobs from yesterday’s list
  • Worked 3 hours on contract job stuff
  • Started in on thesis before realizing brain is fried and need a fresh mind tomorrow
  • Made ground turkey and risotto for dinner — yummy!
  • Settling in for a movie, knitting time, and relaxation time before tomorrow’s lengthy thesis writing journey

I know yesterday I said I was going to wait to run until I lost some of this recent mysterious weight gain, but the treadmill called out to me today, so I tried.  I was shockingly impressed at how lack of winded I was at the 1 mile mark on the treadmill so I pushed a bit (I’m thinking the elliptical work I’ve been doing is to credit my better pacing?).  I haven’t run since the 5K at the beginning of the month.  I was expecting to be rusty and painful and just not into it, but surprisingly I was completely into it — to the point that some guy asked me afterwards what I was rocking out to on the treadmill.  Fun I told him.  His reaction “Those guys who sing that choir-sounding song with the awesome Confederate War video to the song?”  DUDE SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS JUST HOW AWESOME THIS SONG IS.

Note: Some Nights came on the radio SEVEN TIMES today (on different stations), so obviously it was a sign that I needed to run because that has become my song.  Even ran the full length of it to kick off my first mile on the treadmill.

That is all.  Enjoy ya’ll’s Friday evenings.  I’ll just be patiently watching a video and waiting for people to respond to my texts….seems people have gone MIA in the communication world these days.
