Current status: alive and icing
10 miles accomplished at a not so desirable pace but still within reason for the humidity. (between 14-17 minute/miles so I was all over the board)
I (accidentally?) ran with a Rottweiler for half a mile. Rain hit between miles 4 and 5. I also encountered about 4 awesome miles of cow/horse manure smell in the air.
All in all, I needed to get away from familiar scenery to remind me that there is so much more to see in the world. Even if it requires driving 30 miles away.

I had a Bat Mitzvah to go to this morning and this dress barely stayed on. This is the first (and not the last) time I’m accessorizing something with a belt because most of my dresses are too big. But I do need to find a more comfortable belt, haha.

Random facts from the last 24 hours:
- neon underwear makes everything better. seriously.
- waiting all day for a phone call that happens 10 minutes before having to be somewhere messes up my schedule (but it was a good phone call to wait for!)

Random thoughts for the next 24 hours:
- I need to get stuff ready for tomorrow’s run
- crap the temperature is gonna be hot
- wait, that’s TEN MILES on my schedule? I can’t remember the last double digit run….oh wait, March 17, 2012.
- I am soooo looking forward to pizza and a fruit shake tomorrow evening
- Bed. Glorious bed. And SG-1. And knitting. But really, bed.

Happy weekend all!

Today:

- ran 3 miles (2 on treadmill, 1 with dog)

- hard boiled and shelled 10 eggs

- made 4 chicken stir-fry vegetable meals with couscous

- made 5 salads

- made 1 lb. extra of chicken (cut) for salads and other side meals/snacks

- made 6 miso soups out of 3 pre-packed soup mixes (sodium was HIGH for 3 so I decided to split it up; smart call, except that I burnt my tongue tasting it to see how salty it was)

- made meatloaf for dinner (with 3.5 servings left over for the week)

- made yam fries

- made spinach (with approx. 3 servings left over)

And that was all in the course of 5 hours of being awake (I got up late today).  Considering that I share a refrigerator with my parents, I was surprised to be able to fit all this in the vegetable bin and “my shelf” (which is half taken up by strawberries and blueberries presently, until tomorrow’s shake adventures).

I’d say that today has been pretty successful in all health-related matters.  Now off to knit, watch SG-1, and make tomorrow’s to do list (hint: it involves 4 miles, attempting to make a fruit shake, maybe freezing a fruit shake, my mid-week job search sweep, and whatever else life throws at me).

Indy Mini Marathon Week 6 Day 6 (technically day 5 in the scheme of things…) — Long Run, 9 miles
Tomorrow I won’t be able to crank out 9 miles so I pushed the long run to today.  It worked out about as beautifully as picture number 2, which features my leg with a cold burn on it post 4.7 miles with the puppy outside.  Either way, 9 miles were accomplished and the rest is history. (The temperature was 38 when I got the cold burn…I had on yoga capris, could explain a thing or two — my defense is that I don’t own long running pants because *duh* Florida!)
First picture — obviously showing logging into myfitnesspal like whoa, and how many calories I estimated burning (I did the number before completing the workout at 10 this morning)
Second picture — legs with Vibrams and the shin’s cold burn.  Lotion on it now, it isn’t as puffy.
Missing pictures — 4.7 miles with the puppy, 2.40 miles on the elliptical, 2 miles on the treadmill (I went indoors after the cold burn)
Third picture — the New York style bagel with egg that was consumed post workout
Fourth picture — the current position of my body with compression sleeves on and a dog to snuggle with.  Position will remain this way as long as possible.
Fifth picture — Calories burned from the time I got up until syncing my new BodyMedia Core device (note: 5 A.M. grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and post-workout grocery shopping at Publix included)
Sixth picture — The difference between moderate exercise (brown) and vigorous exercise (yellow).  Dunno how it calculates that but yellow was primarily my time on the elliptical.
Seventh picture — Slightly surprised that I’m at 84% efficiency for sleeping considering I went to bed at 11 and got up at 4:30, had 2 middle of the night interruptions (house alarm and having to go to the bathroom).  I thought my sleeping was much worse than it actually documented.  Could just be an anomaly.

Now excuse me, the dog and I are going to go enjoy some SG-1 and salad for lunch.  He gets the carrots, I get everything else.  Happy Friday all!

Dear IPod,

Thank you for playing my two power songs at the END of my run because otherwise I don’t think I could have finished.

1.30 miles with the puppy
2 miles on the treadmill in 26 minutes

Finally starting to ramp my speed up some with this knee brace, but still not willing to push it all the way.

Also, the minute the dog came back from his run he resumed his position under the covers while I went to the gym. Lazy bum.

March goals

Looking back at last month and at January I really didn’t make any goals.  Or if I did I didn’t put them on my blog.  Either way, I’m ready for March goals mainly because it’s at the height of half training and I’ll be on new medicine which should help with my weight.

March:

1. Keep up with half marathon training (no skipping short midweek runs).

2. Run the puppy at least 3 times a week as weather permits.

3. Incorporate in a new vegetable into meals.

4. Go insanely mad applying to as many jobs as possible between the hours of 8 and 3. (Anything after 3 P.M. is me time and revolves around gym, knitting, Netflix, thesis writing, etc.)

5. Don’t get frustrated at the scale. Don’t get excited at the scale.  Judge weight loss based on the clothes that have been tucked away in the closet for half a year waiting to be worn. (Secretly: goal of losing 10 pounds this month with new meds.  Optimistically: goal of losing 5 pounds this month with new meds. Realistically: goal of losing 2 pounds this month with new meds.  Any of the above will make me happy if I can fit back into my old clothes.)

Here’s to seeing how March goes.

Indy Mini Training Week 5

Monday: REST

Tuesday: 3 easy miles; 6 bike miles; some time on the rowing machine

Wednesday: 4 miles

Thursday: 3 miles, elliptical, weights

Friday: weights

Saturday: 8 miles

Sunday: video workout/elliptical & bike

Other stuff:

Sometime this week my new meds will get here so I’ve been experimenting the last few days with dipping as close as I can to 1200 calories while still trying to satisfying my hunger.  Thus far I’ve only landed on nibbling on peanuts to get me through the day when I’m hungry (drinking water does nothing for me these days as I drink so much anyway).  Going to try to incorporate more cooking for lunch (protein and vegetables) instead of making a sandwich and grabbing some processed carbs. Hopefully that’ll work for the time being.

Got a few job applications due end of the week and beginning of next, so I’ll be cranking those out.  Also started two new knitting projects which are exciting (1 is long-term and I already have another semi-long term that needs to be finished plus two short-term ones).
