Daily Recap — SOA W5D2

My day can be summed up in very few words:

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT!  (Extremely temporary…already got my end date.  There’s virtually no way to get hired because it’s contract work, but it’s something and it’s in my field with people I know and love, continuing with a project I have been a part of for awhile).  I knew about it a few weeks back but didn’t want to make it Tumblr official until everything was handled.

Here’s how my day went:

- woke up to a cute guy’s text message wishing me well on my first day (btw, cute guy story for another time because there is a cute guy story to tell!!!)

- woke up at 4:52, a full 8 minutes before my 5 A.M. alarm clock

- had the first cup of coffee in the house (usually it’s Dad’s) and had breakfast before 5:30

- went to go paint my nails because I didn’t have time yesterday and discovered 2 big toenails are either infected/have some sort of fungus/or are soon to fall off because of all my running which made me feel even more awesome first thing in the morning (sorry didn’t have time for pictures, I’ll be removing the nail polish then I’ll grab a picture — and put it behind a cut for ya’ll)

- left the house at 6:15 to beat rush hour traffic in my 2 hour drive

- from 9-4 I WORKED WORKED WORKED.  You don’t know how awesome it felt after almost a year (in 4 days it would be a full year!) to say I went to work

- drove home in rush hour traffic with pouring rain

- WENT TO THE GYM (as if being up since before 5 meant anything to my determination)

- ran an 11:30 mile (owned it like a boss!) and biked 20 minutes for 5.5 miles

- came back home to a pre-made dinner (because I plan things like that)

bicycle crunches for a minute (forgot to count them again)

- am now relaxing and letting the full day soak in

The temporary employment is awesome because a lot of it I can do with my own computer from home, I just have to gather the data on-site (so there will be a few trips) and then some progress meetings.  But I’ll be to my own devices for the extent of the contract.

Here’s how I look after an extremely long day (I slept maybe 4 hours last night and then all of today…so it’s been long and I survived with only my 1 cup of coffee from this morning):

Wet, barefoot, fun run!

I’m usually not one to complain too much about rain because I love it.  The steady rain that doesn’t come with lightening and thunder that is.  It’s the most relaxing and most productive weather that I enjoy.

I’ve been stuck inside running on a treadmill for a week straight, that combined with the fact that I’m tired of looking at the inside of my gym prompted me to not have a gym day today.  But, instead, I opted for a mile fun run barefoot in the pouring rain.  The dog was suppose to come but decided to back out last minute because of the rain.  Silly dog, doesn’t he know that it is so much cooler to run in the rain?

1 mile @ 14:50 pace

Not my fastest mile, but considering the conditions and the fact that I need a recovery weekend from last week’s two-a-days, something is better than nothing to keep the RWRunStreak alive!

Me soaked after running.  Although it’s really hard to tell, the only thing that came out dry on my whole body was ironically my glasses, which usually are the first to get wet.

RWRunStreak Day 5 — 1.11 miles in 13:32

The last half of that mile I took my Vibrams off and ran barefoot in the rain in hopes that my Vibrams wouldn’t get too wet.

Feet and legs felt awesome, even in the rain.

Kind of surprised by how fast I ran that mile, guess I am getting better somehow…

And yes, I really need to clean my bathroom mirror.
