Week 8 — 4 Things Wednesday & Challenges doing this week
1. 2.5 glorious miles in the books! 2.5 miles of running, 2.5 miles of biking, and 30 minutes of core workout. DONE DONE DONE. Pouring rain for the 2.5 miles, turned around when the rolling thunder started because if there is one thing I learned from the 5K I ran back in July—my life is NOT worth risking over being struck by lightening for a training run. Went onto the stationary bike to finish out the mileage. Body felt good, legs felt good, mind felt great. Definitely all positive.
2. Tried rutabaga tonight. Eh. I don’t really have an opinion. Taste is bland, not much to it. I just peeled it, cut it into cubes, and boiled it like I would a white potato. I guess if you did more with it there would be a different taste. Will I try it again? Sure. Differently recipe with more time I think.
3. Worked on more thesis stuff today. Got a whole bunch of research done, still need to start cranking out the pages. Something is better than nothing in my opinions.
4. Bought a new pair of running shorts! I grabbed 2-in-1 shorts from Fila at Kohl’s for 50% off. Definitely awesome! Instead of having underwear in the running shorts, it has running tights attached to it. I’m not 100% sold on the idea because they still feel a bit loose, but we’ll see how it goes.
Daily miles: 5 miles
Daily workout minutes: 84 minutes
Weekly Miles: 9 miles
Weekly workout minutes: 201/180 minutes
Jumping jacks: 150/180
I waited until now to say which challenges I’m doing because, well, people are still posting with some good ideas!
Here are the ones I’m doing:
Find a new route to run. Trail, path, park, drive to a different place to park and run. (my challenge)
Spend an evening with no TV or Computer. Turn off the TV. Do it. It’s only one night. (AmyRunsAmok)
There are several other challenges — no soda for a week, blog everyday, meatless for some meals, etc. I do all of these on a regular basis, which is why I can’t exactly join a challenge that is difficult. But each night I have my computer on Netflix. So Friday night, it’s going to be me and a good book and relaxing with some downtime for me. I need it, hopefully clear my mind and prepare me for the weekend’s long run.
